Colours can stimulate, excite, depress, tranquilize, increase appetite and create a feeling of warmth or coolness.
Our personal and cultural associations affect our experience of colour. The psychological association of a colour is often more meaningful than the visual experience.
Colours act upon the body as well as the mind e.g.:Red has been shown to stimulate the senses and raise the blood pressure, while blue has the opposite effect and calms the mind.
The effect of colour on our mind and feeling and senses are not equivalent to the colour terminology e.g. red and green are complementary colours, but we feel and associate red and blue as a bigger contrast.
Psychology complementary colours are those colour units/joins which are symbolising the biggest contrast how we perceive colour with our minds and feelings. This contrast of understandings and feelings is primary chosen and understood as well in the colour symbolism.
Psychological complementary colours can not co-exist next to each other, because one colour characteristic can not stand for one thing and be at the same time opposite./ expressing the opposite.
If complementary colours are being used or combined together they gets one’s attention to this contraction of colour symbolism.
